Following 2 years of cancellations due to the pandemic, Boomtown was back in full swing for 2022, with a complete re-structure of the site wide layout and a re-start to the over arching storyline.
Area 404 had grown into a much larger district compared to 2019, incorporating venues from other districts in previous years. 7 venues now make up the district, along with new theatre break out areas and large bar frontage.
Is was great fun putting this together with a core build crew of 36 legends, along with another 40+ crew working towards creating a vibrant space including lighting, scaffolding and theatrical performances.
The biggest challenge was creating the whole district with recycled sets from de-commissioned features and stages, with minimal new materials to keep the build as sustainable as possible.
