Q: Hello Simon! What is your role at Dead Walk Designs?
I mostly run the CNC machine! I also do a bit of design work, a bit of painting work, a bit of chippying, and I’m the team chef too. I started with Dead Walk Designs on Wake the Tiger.
Q: What was your background before you joined the Dead Walk Designs team?
I have done a lot of creative woodwork like furniture making and cabinet making, and I’ve made wooden surfboards too. I’ve also done camper van conversions, some prop making and a bit of graphic design, but my jobs have mostly been centred about woodwork.
Q: What has been your favourite Dead Walk Designs project to work on?
The Belfast job we’ve just done has been my favourite all round experience, but if I were to pick one thing we’ve made, it’d probably be the Titan head for Boomtown. That was a huge challenge and loads of fun. I spent most of the time drawing it out on plywood and then helping chopping the shapes out.
Q: What has been the most unusual Dead Walk Designs project to work on?
The Titan head was definitely the strangest and most challenging project that we’ve done. It was challenging because of the scale, but it was a complex thing to wrap your head around anyway.
Q: What would you like to try more of in the future?
I have just been to do an adventure golf project with the team in Cardiff, and that was lots of fun. I’d like to do an adventure golf attraction for adults, with a limited number of holes so each one can be planned out carefully and be really well themed.
Q: Is there a piece of work you’d like to share?
We made a pub façade for Lost City Adventure Golf which was lots of fun. Joe created the initial concept sketch on a tablet, then I figured out how that could be built, creating all the CNC toolpaths for the general construction and detailing.

I’m really enjoying it at Dead Walk Designs and love being here. I get to work with all my friends and do cool stuff!
