With Halloween around the corner, here are some of our favourite spooky projects at Dead Walk Designs!
Ghost Train
Back in 2018, the Dead Walk Designs team was excited to build scenes for a ghost train that was essentially a blank canvas. Starting with only a series of black corridors that the carts ran through, the team produced designs for a journey through a haunted house, out into the graveyard, and then through the dungeons for a freaky finale!
The project at Barry’s Amusements, now Curry’s Fun Park, involved reworking the animatronics, adding a soundtrack and completely redecorating the entire space. Many on the team consider this a dream project!
Gates of Hell escape room and Purgatory bar
After creating a sleek and stylish bar inspired by Purgatory for No Escape in London, the Dead Walk Designs team was tasked with building an escape room based in Hell! With only 5 weeks to complete the job, the team provided design support for the story and puzzles, before constructing everything for the exciting attraction.
Working on the Gates of Hell escape room involved digital design, sculpture, 3D printing, electronics, mechanics, scenic painting, molds, prop making, carpentry, mural-painting and sign-writing!
Chamber of Horrors
Dead Walk Designs was asked by Eddie Saul at MDM Create to assist with the concept design for the reinstated Chamber of Horrors at Madame Tussauds London.
Working closely with Eddie throughout the concept stages, Dead Walk Designs created early illustrations and floor plans to map out the experience. After this, they created a full 3D design for the experience, including flythrough animations for use as a building reference by Merlin Studios North’s creative team.
Spooky set pieces for a music video
In 2021, Dead Walk Designs was asked by Industrialism Films to create two sets of Gothic stairs for the set of a huge new music video! The dark video for the band Cradle of Filth, which involves a range of creepy characters, has since hit 1.8 million views on YouTube!
Although the sinister steps look sturdy and old, they were actually made mostly from polystyrene and timber, ensuring they could be transported and installed in a short space of time!
Scare entertainment masks
Dead Walk Designs’ new prosthetic masks are now on Amazon!
Each spooky latex mask forms around your face and can ‘blend’ with the skin seamlessly when applied with the right materials. The masks are also unpainted, meaning they can be customised however you like!
