Project: Tesla vs Lovecraft Themed Arcade

We had great fun building this bespoke arcade machine for our good friend Dan. The initial brief was to base the theming on Tesla Force, a sequel to videogame Lovecraft vs Tesla by 10tons games. Based on this we looked at various H.P Lovecraft and Nikola Tesla imagery and decided to go with a vintage steampunk theme.

We started by designing the machine in 3D to show Dan how the final machine will look, which also helped us plan for cupboard space to house the PC and a drawer for a keyboard. We then built the cabinet and gave it a metallic paint job with corrosion, weathering effects, and bespoke designed details which we 3D printed for the cabinet. We then fit the touchscreen Dan had supplied, along with the controls, lighting, trim, power supply and custom graphic panels for the Marquee and Control panel. We finished it off with a custom power up animation and since delivery Dan has done a great job adding a few extra details including a sound reactive plasma ball.

Dan has been busy installing the linux powered PC which will allow him to run Steam on the machine and play Tesla Force in style. We can’t wait to have a play on it when it is all installed and lockdown eases!
